Project & Inspiration
Below is a selection of the hundreds of different plugins and applications I have developed over the years.
Modeling tools
Plugin: Bridge extruder
A plugin that reads an Excel file containing coordinates to model plates tangent to these coordinates. Originally developed as a tool for modeling steel bridges, it addresses 3D modeling challenges involving curved and double-curved plates as well as pre-cambering.
Plugin: Spiral Stairs
Fully buildable and manufacturable steel spiral staircases. Developed as project support to address shortcomings in existing plugins regarding manufacturability. Fully parametric and segmentable into practically manageable assembly sections. All plates can be exported as DSTV files and "unfolded" on drawings, making work easier for the blacksmith.
Plugin: Hollow core tool
Full detailing of hollow core slabs in seconds. Parameters for geometry and core-placements are retrieved from a database based on the hollow core slab profile. Using this data, operations such as length cuts, recesses, cast-in components, drainage holes, lifting points, etc., can be automatically positioned in the selected core instead of typing a distance. The hollow core slab profile also determines the appropriate edge-preparation profile to be used.
Plugin: Concrete wall
Full detailing of solid concrete walls. Includes automatic selection and placement of lifting points and bracing sockets. The reinforcement algorithm help you reinforce the wall at the top, bottom, around openings and critical thin sections according to predefined rules. Place embedded components such as studs, welded plates, and stud-recesses by clicking on adjacent structural elements. All embedded components are correctly tagged with NS/FS to streamline drawing generation.
Plugin: Pile sheet wall
Create sheet pile walls along any desired layout. Extend each sheet pile plank to the underlying terrain model to enhance the accuracy of the design. Add further detailing such as anchors, casing pipes, and waler beams for a complete solution.
Plugin: HSQ beam
The classic box-profile-beam, constructed from individual plates that are welded together to form the beam. This plugin addresses challenges encountered when using Tekla's built-in component editor, such as the ability to model any number of web stiffeners and shear studs, as well as lifting points that are automatically positioned relative to the center of gravity. End detailing includes support for both Gerber joints and support-configurations.
Plugin: RD Slab
A tool for full detailing of solid concrete slabs. It provides automation and support for lifting points, embedded components, recesses, edge preparations in various configurations, as well as built-in reinforcement algorithms for edges, top- and bottom reinforcement.
Plugin: CLT Tool
Design support for modeling CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber). The system integrates databases from several swedish CLT manufacturers, including Martinsons, Setra, and Stora Enso. Surface symbols and stress direction indicators automatically generate the correct product codes for manufacturing according to each supplier. Built-in modeling support includes features for lifting points, connections, notches, and geometric adjustments for factory production, such as reinforcement beams within large openings and additional recesses at 90-degree saw corners.
Plugin: Pile group
The pile group is linked to a result file from an internal calculation program, allowing it to respond instantly to changes. Built-in support enables importing the measured coordinates of the piles from surveyor files and comparing the as-built position with the theoretical design.
Ritning
Ritnings plugin: View Manager
A productivity tool for GA drawings. Allows users to copy view positions and view frames from one plan/section drawing to another with a single click. It also supports hatching of external areas. This tool is ideal for working with plans and sub-plans, ensuring that the position and size of drawing views remain consistent across different floor levels and for varying content (cast-in-place, reinforcement, etc.). Originally developed to mimic "Scope Boxes" in Revit.
Ritningsapplikation: Clipboard
Replicates Revit's Clipboard functionality. Copies any drawing object to corresponding coordinates on another drawing or view. Use this tool to easily duplicate section-, detail-marks, or revision symbols across multiple floor plans simultaneously. Or use the tool to quickly copy a drawing note to all reinforcement plans without the need to create unique named templates and layouts. Can be used both in an open drawing or via the drawing list, enabling actions on multiple drawings simultaneously.
Datahantering
Application: Rebar Scheduler
Export an XML file of selected reinforcement, which can be directly opened in Q-Armering. Built-in support for differentiated groups, both per bar and per group, allows for the specification of reinforcement modeled as "Tapered" in Tekla. With integrated revision tracking, the specification can also indicate whether bars have been modified, added, or removed since the last exported specification.
Application: Carbon Assessment
Get instant insights into a building's carbon footprint. Imports climate data from the Swedish authority "Boverket" climate database. Visualize results with graphs and apply custom climate values to specific building components. Export the results as a .csv file for aggregation and further analysis in other software.
Macros
Sometimes it's the small, repeated time-savings that have the greatest impact. Macros are precisely those small add-on programs that save time on recurring tasks.
Modelleringsmacro: Measure point-to-face
Measure the perpendicular distance from a point to a surface
Ritningsmacro: Orthogonalize marks
With one click, all leader lines in the selected marks are made orthogonal
Modelleringsmacro: Cut/Fit by face
Cut an object based on the surface of another object
Modelleringsmacro: Extend to solid
Click on a beam and then on a geometry to extend the beam to it
Ritningsmacro: Get viewplane
Retrieve the z-coordinate of the view plane for any selected plan view
Ritnignsmacro: Rotate drawing view
Rotate drawing views by snapping a new X-axis using the grid or model objects instead of manually entering a rotation angle
About me
With over 14 years of experience from working both at Tekla and on different consulting firms i have designed and developed over 100+ add-on softwares to Tekla Structures spanning from the smallest pieces of code to larger more complex applications.
